Hair Care From the Grocery Store - It's Not as Crazy as It Sounds...

If you've been shopping at the salon, and paying an arm and a leg for products. Get out of the salon and into the grocery store for great looking hair! Seriously, you can do wonders for your hair with common kitchen ingredients. In fact, many pricey hair care products are based on these five simple products.

Baking Soda

Do you have product buildup in your hair? You can remove it with baking soda. Just add three tablespoons of baking soda to a quart of water, and use it as a rinse after shampooing. Then rinse and condition the way you normally would. This works on any type of hair.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Your mom or grandma may have extolled the benefits of vinegar rinses for your hair. Guess what - they were right! Just add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to two cups of water, and use it after shampooing. Your hair will shine! You don't even have to rinse it out, because the vinegar odor will evaporate quickly.

Eggs

You don't need protein shampoo. Eggs are just full of protein, and other fabulous nutrients as well. Just beat an egg in a bowl, pour in some of your favorite shampoo, mix it up, and wash your hair with the mixture. You can also use eggs as a deep conditioning treatment - beat an egg or two in a bowl, and work them into dry hair. Cover your hair with a shower cap and wait fifteen minutes, then wash. Use warm water, though, not hot - it doesn't take a whole lot of heat to cook eggs, and you won't believe the mess you'll be in for if you end up with scrambled eggs in your hair.

Molasses

Molasses is an incredible conditioning treatment. Just apply it to your dry hair, put on a shower cap, and leave it for about 20 minutes. Then wash. This is ideal for dry hair.

Olive Oil

Of all the kitchen items you can use on your hair, olive oil is simply the best. You can use it two ways. First, to strengthen and moisturize your hair, heat half a cup of olive oil in the microwave for fifteen seconds - just long enough to warm it. Apply it to damp hair, and pop on a shower cap.

Leave on for at least 20 minutes - an hour is better, though. Then shampoo. Second, to add shine to your hair, put about half a teaspoon of olive oil in your hands, and rub. Apply it to your hair, moving from the top downward. This is highly effective on split ends.
