What is it?

Western culture has often had mixed views about the use of herbal supplements throughout the years; however for Eastern cultures, it is almost considered a way of life. With people in North America looking for alternatives to better health, the properties and benefits of Ganoderma Lucidum have become of interest and appeal.

Ganoderma Lucidum is a mushroom. But not an ordinary Mushroom. A Red Mushroom. A Red Mushroom that dates back over 4,000. Ancient generations prized this mushroom for its medicinal properties … promoting health and well-being. This mushroom is also known as Lingzhi in China, Reishi in Japan, and Youngzhi in Korea.

Ganoderma Lucidum is a rare, special mushroom created only when conditions are right. In nature, when the proper nutrients (i.e., dead organic matter or soil) are present with the appropriate environmental conditions, Ganoderma Lucidum will exist. Ganoderma will grow in densely wooded mountain forests of high humidity and dim lighting, and typically, on dried trunks of dead trees. According to research, out 10,000 dead tree trunks, only about 2 or 3 will show a growth of Ganoderma. For this reason, this particular species of mushroom has been very scarce.

How notable and valuable is Ganoderma? The first Emperor of the Chin Dynasty (221-206 BCE) sent 500 attractive men and 500 beautiful women in search of this herb said to be located on a mysterious island. They never returned. Legend says it was these people who colonized Japan.

What does it do for me?

In today’s fast-paced society, there are many opportunities for our body functions to become imbalanced. We are constantly on the go, moving from one-place to another. Sometimes, personal care has not been high on the list of priorities when it comes to trying to make ends meet. Our bodies are constantly bombarded with unpleasant influences (stress, pollution, technologies, etc.). These types of pressure have helped contribute to society looking for new ways to help improve health in a more natural way.

Ganoderma Lucidum, often referred to as ”The Miraculous King of Herbs,” has been shown to have the ability to help the body function more effectively and efficiently. Ganoderma helps to:

  • Provide more energy and vigor, while reducing fatigue.
  • Increase brain activity.
  • Rejuvenate and make you feel young and alert.
  • Improve the body’s immune system.
  • Promote a good night’s sleep.

How is this possible? Over 200 special properties of Ganoderma Lucidum have been identified, including more than 100 triterpenoids, organic germanium, beta-d-glucan, powerful alkaloids and amazing polysaccharides like ganoderans B and C. These ingredients combine into the most powerful adaptogen in nature with unsurpassed immunomodulating properties. All this in one herb.

With over 2 million customers in more than 20 countries today using Ganoderma Lucidum as a supplement to their daily regimen, there’s got to be a reason sales of this herb is literally “mushrooming” throughout North America and the world.

    Science

Renewed interest in the properties of Ganoderma Lucidum surfaced in 1956 when research from a medical scholar dating back to the mid-1500 was found. Authored by Li Shi Zhen (1518-1593 AD) a renown naturalist and scholar in the Ming Dynasty document, these fully researched an republished works document the various species of Ganoderma, differentiated by color and type.

1971 was the year that researchers from Kyoto, Japan found a way to cultivate Ganoderma in large quantities. Then in 1983, with a background in orchid plantations and a passionate interest in traditional medications, Mr. Leow Soon Seng, a researcher in Mycology (branch of science dealing with the study of fungi) began to intently study the various species of mushrooms.

He discovered that the climate (82°F-89°F or 28°C-32°C) and humidity in Malaysia were excellent for Ganoderma cultivation. After conducting several tests and experiments, he found that Ganoderma Lucidum had the highest therapeutic value, compared to other types of mushrooms. Of the over 200 species of the plant, only six types were found to be the most beneficial. Subsequently, these six species are used to produce Gano Excel's™ Ganoderma.

Mr. Leow adopted the tissue culture concept together with using 100% organic elements for the cultivation of Ganoderma. He uses paddy husks, brown rice flour and rubber tree scrapes as the medium of plantation. No chemicals, pesticides or hormones are used in the cultivation. Exposure to sun is also controlled in order to maintain and grow Ganoderma with the highest therapeutic value. Ganoderma takes a period of 3 months to mature and the plucking process is closely supervised.

Gano Excel’s World’s Largest Ganoderma Organic Plantation

Since a proper environment is essential to ensure high quality Ganoderma production, Gano Excel™ created and owns the world's largest Ganoderma Organic Plantation in the world which incorporates an environment friendly concept. Gano Excel’s specially-designed greenhouse has the ability to properly cultivate and produce Ganoderma with a high-therapeutic value.

In fact, our facilities have passed the most rigorous standards to ensure the highest quality products are created. Our facilities have been certified internationally with the topmost level of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) at “pharmaceutical-grade,” as well as being recognized with earning two certifications as an ISO 9001:2000 company of quality.

Our commitment to excellence and the sophistication of our ultra-modern technology have made it possible to produce a range of high quality products able to meet consumer demands worldwide.

    Multi Uses of Ganoderma Lucidum

Beginning in 1995, Mr. Leow Soon Seng and his team of researchers acquired and established plantations to grow Ganoderma Lucidum. Gano Excel was created. Later that same year, he was able to develop an exclusive nutraceutical extract that combined all the best qualities of Ganoderma Lucidum. However, the bitter taste associated with Ganoderma still existed. Introducing this rare herb to the masses would be difficult, if thought and care were not considered.

In 1996, through significant research and development, the idea to combine Ganoderma Lucidum with coffee was born. Why coffee? Coffee is the second largest consumed beverage (next to water) and the second highest traded commodity in the world (next to petroleum). The United States is the largest consumer of coffee in the world with more than half the population enjoying 3-4 cups a day. In Canada, coffee is the favorite hot beverage of choice and over 15 billion are served yearly. Latin Americans prize their coffee as if it were gold.

Finally in 1997, Gano Excel introduced the world’s first coffee with the health enhancing qualities of Ganoderma – Gano Café 3-in-1, a delicious tasting combination of Gano Excel’s exclusive Ganoderma extract, rich Brazilian coffee, sweetener and non-dairy creamer. Soon thereafter, came the development of other coffees (including a mocha to rival any coffeehouse), tea and chocolate drinks, a cereal, personal care products (toothpaste and soap), beauty products (day/night creams, facial cleansers, and body lotion), and supplements. All designed to help enhance one’s quality of life inside and out.

As Mr. Leow said in a recent article written for Java, The Journal of Healthy Coffee, “Of all the natural elements in nature that I have found, Ganoderma Lucidum has the most broad spectrum potentials. It is good for so many things in the human system. Nothing else seems to be quite as effective and quite so adaptive.”

... and there are still more products yet to be created.
